Update the Maitaki app
The update strip, Check for updates, and the Update required screen.
Also known as: new version · upgrade · update available · out of date · app version · latest version · refresh app · old version · restart app · install update
Maitaki gets new features and fixes often. The phone app looks for updates on its own when you open it, when you come back to it, and every 10 minutes while it’s open. In a web browser, a reload is all it takes.
On your phone
When an update is ready, a strip appears under the top bar: A new version is ready with the version number.
- Tap the strip.
- On Update Maitaki?, tap Update & restart.
- Wait while it shows Fetching update…, then Updating… with a percentage, then Installing…. The app restarts on its own.
Anything you haven’t saved is lost when the app restarts, so finish what you’re doing first. To wait, tap Not now. Tapping ✕ on the strip hides it until the next version comes out.
Mid-service? Tap Not now and update at a quiet moment. The strip stays until you update or tap ✕.
Check for updates yourself
- Open the account menu: tap your location and avatar at the top right.
- At the very bottom, tap Check for updates, next to the version number.
| You’ll see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Checking for updates… | Maitaki is looking. |
| You’re up to date | You have the latest version. |
| Update available … tap to install | Tap it to update now. The app restarts. |
| Update failed — retry | Tap it to try again. Check you have a signal. |
In a web browser
The version is shown at the bottom of the account menu as Maitaki v followed by the number.
When a new version comes out, a dark pill near the bottom of the screen says A new version of Maitaki is out. Tap Reload. If you’re typing something, finish and save it first.
When an update is required
Sometimes an older version can no longer save changes. Maitaki tells you before anything is lost.
| You’ll see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Update needed before you can save changes — tap to update (phone) | Tap the strip, then Update & restart. |
| Reload needed before you can save changes (browser) | Tap Reload. |
| Update required, full screen | Tap Update now in the app, or Reload in a browser. |
| Install the latest Maitaki app, full screen | Your installed app is too old to update itself. Tap Get the new app and install it. Your account and data stay as they are. |
Common questions
There's a small refresh icon on the welcome screen.
An update is waiting, and you can install it before you sign in. Tap the icon, then Update.
It says a version "didn't start on this phone".
That version had trouble starting on your phone, so Maitaki went back to the one that works. It won’t offer that version again, and you’ll get the next one as normal.
