Build a menu from your POS sales
Let Maitaki draft a menu from a year of what you actually sold, then untick anything you don't want.

Your POS already knows every dish you sell and what you charge. Generate from POS turns the last year of those sales into a draft menu: it groups the POS buttons into real dishes, merges duplicates, skips things that aren’t dishes, and prices each one from its average selling price.
Before you start
You need a POS connected to Maitaki that sends sales item by item, such as Toast. See Connect your Toast POS. If no item sales have come in yet, there’s nothing to build from.
Generate the menu
- Tap Library, then the Menus tab.
- Tap Generate from POS. Maitaki starts straight away and shows Reading your sales & building a menu…. It usually takes 30 to 60 seconds.
- Go through the draft, section by section. Tap a dish to untick it if you don’t want it on the menu.
- Change the Menu name if you like. It starts as Menu from POS.
- Tap Create menu. The button shows how many dishes are ticked.
What the tags mean

Open Skipped at the bottom to see what was left out and why: add-ons, POS buttons like Open Food, fees such as a bag fee, and items that barely sold.
Next steps
The new menu has your dishes and prices, and each dish remembers which POS items it came from. To see profit per dish:
- Link recipes to menu items, so each dish has a food cost.
- Link POS items to your menu for anything that wasn’t picked up.
Common questions
It says "Couldn't generate the menu".
Tap Try again. If it happens again, check that your POS is connected and that item sales have come in. See Fix a sales source that isn’t syncing.

My POS doesn't send item sales.
